Transcribed by Les Winefield, Mosgiel, New Zealand from the original diary handed down the family from his Grandmother Jessie Winefield (nee Harrison) who travelled to New Zealand on the "Invercargill" with her parents and sister. The original diary is now held by the Otago Settlers Museum, Dunedin, New Zealand. The text has been altered a little to allow for easier reading.
